OpenAI resolved issues with ChatGPT on Thursday after users across the globe flocked to social media sites to complain that they cannot access the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that has become an essential tool for millions.
Several users took to social media sites on Thursday to complain that artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT is down. Users on social media site X complained that they were not able to access the site.
ChatGPT creator OpenAI first said they had resolved the issue but later in a separate update said that there was an outage and it is working to resolve the issue. The site also went active momentarily but soon suffered another outage.
At the time of writing this report, ChatGPT was up and running.
“This issue has now been resolved. Between 4:23am and 7:10am PST, customers experienced elevated errors on ChatGPT,” OpenAI said on its site, where it was sharing real-time updates on the resolution process.
Journalist Mario Nawfal also tweeted that the site is down. “OpenAI is currently in the thick of an unresolved incident with ChatGPT and the API experiencing higher than usual error rates,” he said in a post on X.
ChatGPT showed 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable error to many users on Thursday and some users said they received a “bad gateway” error.
Netizens also shared memes over the site’s downtime issues, with many asking other users if they are flocking to sites like X to see if ChatGPT is down for everyone.
Several people also hilariously quipped that they now have to “think” because ChatGPT is down.
ChatGPT has been increasingly used and accepted by academics, students, coders, journalists, content creators and the general public. Many even use it for daily work and for official purposes, like writing emails and preparing notes.
